MAW's Story
Mercer Auto Wreckers, LLC is a family-owned and operated business for more than 70 years. Starting out in the early ‘50s, our grandfather, Robert Essington Carter started building firetrucks for the local department, and the rest is history. In the early ‘70s, our father John Albin Carter, Sr. took the business into the next generation expanding on our towing capabilities and our service and repair offerings. In July of 2021, after the passing of our father, he set us out in a direction together – as the new owners – hoping we, too, would make our mark on our family’s legacy. With our humblest intentions, we hope to continue to be a growing part of the wonderful community that supports us!
This place is great! Very kind and helpful group of workers and extended family. RV tire blew late one night, no place to stay the night let alone get a new tire. They had just closed but the man met us at the shop, after hours, and searched his shop for a tire. No luck. We were allowed to stay in his lot for the night. He showed up at 7am and after searching for a tire in town, picking it up and getting us back on the road was all of a couple hours!
